Raised on the water, Ian grew up fishing with bait-and-tackle on the Lake of the Ozarks, small local lakes and ponds in Missouri. For the past 15 years, Ian has lived in Oregon where he spends his time on the river fishing for salmon and steelhead, as well as fly fishing for native Trout.

Sweetwater Guide School
Ian completed a guide training course in Montana. The school included CPR and First Aid certification, instruction in jet boating, jet boat maintenance, drift boating, safety, client interaction, fly tying, fly casting, knot tying, entomology and shore lunch preparation.
Swiftwater Rescue Training
Ian completed a comprehensive swiftwater rescue training course in Oregon. The program included multiple rescue situations, from the boat, from the shore, with ropes, with help and solo.
